Step-by-step

How a typical replacement works

Every conservatory is different, but most solid roof upgrades around Ashford follow a similar pattern. The outline below gives a general idea of what to expect.

1. Local survey

A visit to your property in Ashford or the surrounding area to assess the existing conservatory, confirm measurements and discuss your preferences.

2. Removing the old roof

The original glass or polycarbonate roof panels are removed while the base and frames are retained where suitable.

3. New timber framework

A lightweight timber frame is installed to form the shape of the new roof, designed to keep weight within appropriate limits.

4. Insulation and boarding

Insulation is fitted, followed by boarding and a breathable waterproof layer, building up the layers of the roof.

5. Tiled external finish

Lightweight tiles are installed in the chosen colour, with hips and ridges finished to suit the shape of the roof.

6. Internal plastering and lighting

Inside, the ceiling is plasterboarded and skimmed, and any agreed lighting is installed to complete the new look.

Timescales

How long does it take?

Many solid roof conversions on small to medium conservatories are completed within a working week, although the exact timescale depends on size, design and any additional work agreed.
